Greetings from Eastern Tennessee, USA. I am really enjoying you pictures of Flein. The first of my ancestors to travel to America (in 1749) lived in flien. From what I can tell (looking at google earth, the house he grew up in is just down the street from that traffic circle. It is really cool to see what it looks like now. What a pretty little town.

Dear Peter Horine - thankyou for visit and interesting words. Wow, 1749 - a very long time ago. In this little town are living 6500 people. It's near Heilbronn ( 1 mile - 120.000 people). Most popular product of Flein is wine. So this lovely landscape is affected by vineyards, fields and forest. I am working in Flein. Warm greetings Bernd

Bernd,

It's good to hear from you. I haven't logged into panoramio in a while, and I just thought I'd check it to night and noticed your reply. Here is a link to the page about my ancestor: Flein House

The pics of the house in Flein are on the right at the top of the page, if you want to see them. I think it it right down the hill from the traffic circle. If I ever get to that part of the world, I am definitely going to visit Flein and check it out.

What kind of work do you do? Are you going to post more pictures of the area? I really enjoy them.

Pete

Hi, Pete, i took a look at this interesting story of your family. Well, it's a couple of years... longer time than I can research my own family. My wife's family was going to live in Ukraine as farmers before coming back at days of world war II. Pete, if you will come to Germany to visit this region, call me. it would be a pleasure to help you and to meet you. I will show you Flein from all sides. :-) Of course town is changed. Old buildings are rar.

I was born in 1963. my business is trading flashdrives. buying in China, selling in Europe. not spectacular.
