Fedje is located on an island an hour and a half north of Bergen. Fedje has an interesting history, telling us a lot about toil and hardship, but also about the indomitable persistance of a people living in harmony with nature - especially represented by the North Sea to the west of the island. Employment is vital to small communitys like Fedje, with its around 700 inhabitants today on a total area of little more than 9 square kilometers. Fishing has been the most important means of support.
