The field is also known as the Brontë Meadow. The wall on the left was built soon after 1957 when the field was purchased by the Brontë Society. It is now left as grassland as a feeding ground for birds such as the linnet, skylark, meadow pipit and twite. The bath (used as a water trough for sheep) is visible on Google Earth.

Superb, Purdey! I was more impressed by the chair...
Best wishes. Eva

Thanks Eva. I hadn't really noticed the chair (really a bench)! What amused me was the way the wall appears to have built over the bath. Best wishes, purdey

Amazing idea to build a fence over a bathtub!! And the chair/bench in the middle of nowhere! I find the whole idea very funny. Greetings from Greece

Hello Marina. I suppose using the bath as a drinking trough is an early example of recycling! Purdey

Has the bathtub been removed from the meadow in between? At least I can't discover it on the Google Maps satellite photo ... BTW, the fence (wall) over the tub could mean that the tub is serving as a drinking trough for both sides - but who will pay what portion of the water bill? ;-D Maybe the shepherd sitting on the bench will maintain statistics on the drinking frequencies of the sheep? ROFL, Ralf

I'm sure I could see it last year! Never mind. Here's a closer look at the bath
