My dad, Brett, took this magnificent picture. Those streaks are stars rising in the east. To take a picture like this you need a single-lens reflex camera (SLR) and 400 ISO film. Put the camera on a steady tripod and attach a cable-release. Hold a dark object (say, a hat) over the lens to negate any vibrations the film might otherwise pick up while you gently open the shutter with the cable and lock it. Keep the shutter open for any amount of time you like. Try 20 or 30 minutes. Much longer and sometimes dew condenses on the lens and ruins the shot. When you're ready to finish, hold your hat over the lens again and gently close the shutter with the cable release.
