Your photo is funny as I was looking for the spot where my sister took me, over 20 years ago, near this spot where I was surrounded by 3 pylons. I sat down in the middle of them and refused to go under any of them and have had a phobia about them ever since! I can't see where it was though but the picture is great, scares me though!

Hi Donald LOL after spending the last horrific 10 minutes looking at your pictures ( frightened witless ) I clicked on the link for the Ordnance Survey map and yes, there are 4 lines in that area!!! I think the 26th picture is probably nearest to where we were. It has amused me how the pylons are all numbered and how the captions speak so lovingly of them when I was just about daring to glance at the screen! Pic 19 being the scariest! Then pic 10 as it must have been taken up the pylon! Anyway, thank you very much for replying, after all these years I've found out where it was! Vanessa

I think your right about the location of the 3 pylons, thats the only place around Neilston I can think of there being several close together. We certainly are blessed with some lovely Pylons around here :-) I never realised the photos could become a public service!

It's funny how just one event can scare you for life! Even if I go under the wires in a car I shudder and can't look, let alone walk under one! Saying all that I have started to conquer my fear, we did a carboot in a field where they were, I was okay, kept my face to the floor and didn't look at them until I almost bumped into the base of one and I fled to the car and wouldn't get out again! I think the ultimate would be to face my fear and be allowed to climb one but I'm shaking in my boots even thinking about it!

Yes, even apparently minor events in childhood can stick with you. Personally I'm happy to stand under a pylon but you'd never get me to climb one! All my photos were taken when firmly on the ground.
