In my impression the spinning factories mainly naigaiwata Corp.(内外綿株式会社)are scattered over the area from Changshou Road(長寿路 in that time,it called Robison Road named by the koubukyoku)to bund of Suzhou River(蘇州河),south to north. I was living nearby their former factory until 9 years old. You also took some photos of their Japanese employees` dormitory there, right？
As for the area around the 3rd elementary Japanese school,it should be residential house. Some residential building dates from 1910-1920`s are still there. The only factory there was a electrical machinery factory, called 南洋電機 after 1959.Just 50 meters away north to the former 3rd elementary Japanese school. But actually it was built as Japanese elementary school. So that I guess maybe some Japanese lived around there before
By the way, Could you leave me your contact information in Hone.Coo@gmail.com my e-mail address.Maybe we would have some more topics on history of shanghai.I am now living in Osaka.
