How to say, maybe you can look it in history-book.

In world war two, Japanese ever occupied these islands which were named Kuril'skie ostrova. Later the Soviet defeated Japanese who left these tanks on the island.

By the way, did you ever lived in the USSR when it collapsed.

vkulik, on December 11, 2008, said:

I lived in USSR and at school history was learned us about war on Sakhalin, but about war in the north of Kuril Islands I did not read. Are you a habitant of Japan?

Your english is better than mine.

I live in Mainland China, I am not Japanese.

Do you mind me asking your questions?

  1. How do you think of the relationship between Ukrain and Russia?

  2. Did Soviet collapse interfere with your life, say, travelling in Russia, Belarus, and such things?

3.How do you think of the democracy processes and results of your nation? frankly, I envy that.

4.It's snowing in your place? I like snow, but there hasn't been snow for years around here.

Thanks.

Greetings pinkmemory. Good questions. 1. Relations between Ukraine and Russia now strained, but the Government is guilty, people wish to be on friendly terms. 2. Yes borders very much prevent to travel, a lot of different, not the necessary checks of documents. 3. Very much a complicated question that such the democracy, many people, especially senior, do not understand. 4. Snow at us now is only in mountains of Crimea, and on the bank of Black sea snow still are not present. You live In what province, mountains are? How you have started up to Kuriles, for us there the closed zone? Greetings from Vadim.

Thanks for you response, Vadim, my buddy.

oh, you live in Crimea, the beautiful peninsula which ever belonged to Russia and many Russian politicians are dreaming to get back . It's said that majority residents in Crimea are Russians, really? Then, are you a Russian?

I live in Sichuan, a southwest province of mainland China, which is a famous basin being surrounded by many high mountain and has warm weathers through the year. so it seldom snows here. I love snow, but you see, what a pity!

Oh, Sichuan, huge area on the way from Tibet to Yunnan and to the sea. The native land Dan Sjaopina, the country of pandas and the beautiful nature, and about your kitchen go legends. I like to travel, but in your country yet was not, only I dream. Yes I Russian, my Native land - Altai. Parents have moved more close to the sea and now I the citizen of Ukraine. In Crimea the majority of Russian also are dissatisfied with a policy, now forbid Russian at schools and universities. I the teacher of geography and language know, but many parents against such policy of Ukraine. To me have told that the authorities of Chengdu have closed for foreigners road on the West to Lhasa and on the south in Yunnan. Whether the truth it? Thanks, the friend pinkmemory, excuse I do not know a name.

pinkmemory, on December 14, 2008, said:

yes, Sichuan is the home of pandas but they are not often seen. and I am not in Chengdu. But it's like what you thought that Sichuan food is very nice.

oh, as a geography teacher, it's amazing that you even know Dan Sjaopina, who opened the country to the outside world, even though a slight gap in the wall, and sent back rights to the people, even thought only a small part of their rights.

you are an erudite teacher. Chengdu, Lhasa, such things are like what you said. welcome to this country. and if possible I am pleased to feast you.

I am also love travelling the world, but it's just a dream for me, cause I cannot earn much. daily expense burns such a hole in my pocket.

if you like, call me Chandler. that is my english name.

by the way, the pictures about Sakhalin are from a friend.
