South of France is like the south of 'Eua is like the south of Australia. Can you ride a horse, Stef?

This photo I like the most, it's a perfectly captured moment, like in song "Who's gonna ride your wild horses" :-)

Ian, thanks for sharing photos from Tonga, it's a very beautiful island

Dear Rafal,

These horses as as good as any in the world. They were in very good condition and well built. Elsewhere in Tonga, the odd horse that one finds in the villages, looks very tired and in poor condition, but these are fine animals.

I am pleased to introduce you to Tonga, Rafal. There are a great variety of islands in Tonga, this one, 'Eua, being unique. There are low coral islands, high uplifted coral islands, tilted islands, volcanic cone islands, volcanic crater islands, and the islands of Tonga's barrier reef.

Tonga sits on the edge of the Australia Tectonic Plate, and above the subduction of the Pacific Plate. Hence there are earthquakes, volcanoes and spectacular islands and reefs.

Great capture Ian. These really do look like they're in good shape and must have plenty of foliage to eat. Wonderful to see.

Best regards, Tom

Hi Tom!

I have been rather busy, both with the camera and at work, and in this case combining both. But as I upload I am thrilled that our network of friends is enjoying them. And as you know, I particularly appreciate your critique and affirmations.

There are a few horse lovers in the network, especially from USA and the Canadian Prairies, and I was actually thinking of them while I was observing these beautiful but flighty animals. I guess we usually associate horses with the vast plains of the continents, and don't expect to find them on small coral islands. But this is a fine example of the serendipitous latter..

Sincerely,

Ian

It is pleasing that this image has given you joy, Hameleti. Do make it to 'Eua, and walk the east coast! I recommend the walk which starts here among these prize horses.

Malo 'aupito,

Ian
