Sea Oats. Roots grow very deep( to secure freshwater) which helps stabilize dunes and protect the shoreline.

Timo!

Greetings! I'm so glad that you stopped by these happy little sea oats! They just attracted my attention, looking so proud and tall out there! I have always loved Sea Oats, but probably just because I LOVE the beach, and one can always find sea oats near the beach! =)

I'm so happy that you enjoyed this shot, and thank you for your very kind words.

I hope you're enjoying your week so far.

Best regards,

Mary Alice

Hello, Mary Alice. I was just checking to see if you had new photos and as always, I stopped by a later page to see what else you had to surprise me. I didn't expect to see something like this... :]

Amazing photo with the tan oats and blue (or gray, I'm colorblind...) skies. And then you can see a bit of the beach to the right. An incredible macro photo. I love the beach!

I see these a lot at the beach, but never thought to research anything about them. You now have stored this wonderful info in my head and I'll remember it whenever I see these again.

This photo deserves a Like and YS, of course!

Best Regards from Hephzibah!

Greetings, Liam, and thank you so much for your careful exploration of this photo. I'm so glad that you enjoyed these sea oats! I've always loved sea oats, and OF COURSE, the beach! Oh Yes! Is there anything finer than a beach? I am hoping to go to Hunting Island soon. Have you ever been? I can't wait. We're planning a trip hopefully next month sometime. I am very eager to get my toes in the sand.

Thank you so much for the yellow star and many kind compliments. You always leave me feeling very accomplished.

I hope that you are doing well, and I hear that you're off to an awesome concert this upcoming weekend! I'm so excited fro you both.

Thanks again for your visit!

Rockin' the mighty airways tonight,

Mary Alice

I believe I have gone to Hunting Island before, but it was when I was just a little kid, so I don't remember much (besides a light house). One beach I heard was a really good place (for birding anyway) is Huntington Island State Park in Murrels Inlet, SC. Hilton Head Island has very good, although crowded, beaches.

One of my favorite beaches in Georgia is Cumberland Island National Seashore. It's only accessible by ferry, but it's an amazing place with feral horses, wild turkeys, and a bunch of other animals. It also features a bunch of ruins from an old family that used to own the island. I went in '07 and it was a great experience.

I don't need to ask where you heard about the concert. :)

Yes, Kyle and I are going to see The Almost, House of Heroes, and Chasen! We're really excited too.

Have a great day and keep it loud!

Hello again, Liam! Yes indeed, I've heard all about Cumberland Island, and I've always wanted to go there as well. We are going to Hunting Island because I actually want to go to one of the islands nearby to explore an old fort, but Hunting Island is the nearest place with a campground. We are pitching tents and taking all the dogs. I can't wait! :) I think we'll have to go to Cumberland without the dogs so I can stand a better chance at getting some good shots of the wild horses! :) Yes, Kyle spilled the beans on the concert. I thank that is sooooo cool, and I can't wait to hear all about it. I know you're both pumped!
I'll talk to you again soon, and I hope you enjoy your week! Rockin' on out, Mary Alice
