瞻园

【瞻园】江苏省文物保护单位。位于南京城南瞻园路。坐北朝南，纵深127米，东西宽123米，总面积15621平方米。瞻园是南京仅存的一组保存完好的明代古典园林建筑群，与南京豫园、无锡寄畅园、苏州拙政园和留园并称为"江南五大名园"。瞻园原系明开国元勋中山王徐达府邸之西圃，经徐氏七世、八世、九世三代人修缮与扩建，至万历年间已初具规模。清顺治二年(1645)该园成为江南行省左布政使署。乾隆帝巡视江南，曾驻跸此园，并御题"瞻园"匾额。太平天国时，瞻园先后为东王杨秀清府、夏官副丞相赖汉英衙署和幼西王萧友和府。清同治三年(1864)，清军夺取天京，该园毁于兵燹。同治四年(1865)、光绪二十九年(1903)，瞻园两度重修，但已非原园景况。民国时，江苏省长公署等政府机关曾设园内。瞻园历经侵削，范围日狭，花木凋零，峰石徙散，虽曾几度修葺，均不能制其圮落。1958年，中共南京市委书记彭冲指示重修瞻园。同年修缮工作开始，一期工程为修建瞻园西部。历时6年，用太湖石1800吨，使瞻园面貌一新。1985年二期工程上马，1987年竣工。共增园林面积近4000平方米，修建楼台亭阁13间，建筑面积2882平方米。扩建后的瞻园，东西二园合一，其山水布局既保留了明清园林风格，又汲取现代南北方造园艺术精华，形成兼容并蓄之特色。园内有乔灌木810株，竹类面积400平方米。东瞻园有太平天国历史博物馆展区、水院、草坪区、古建区，西瞻园有西假山、南假山、北假山、静妙堂等景点。

又被国民党特务机关占用，沦为杂院，荒芜不堪。 解放后，瞻园被列为省级文物保护单位。1960年南京市 人民政府委托南京工学院（今东南大学）刘敦桢教授主持瞻园的恢复整建工作，1966年完成了一期工程，即瞻园的西部景区，面积约八亩半。时隔20年之后，其二期工程作为秦淮风光带旅游开发项目得以实施。 瞻园的修建不仅保留了原有的格局特点，而且还充分地运用了苏州古典园林的研究成果，推陈出新，创造性地继承和发展了我国优秀的造园艺术。
