I haven't spent as much time on the South Fork of the Stanislaus, but have spent hundreds of hours along the North Fork (accessible from CA Hwy 4 in Calaveras County) in various locations. This was a particularly nice August day and we were making the "three pass" jaunt over Ebbetts, Monitor and Sonora passes. Love the high Sierra.
