A most unusual capture! It is really quite lovely. Certainly not something one would run into on their normal morning stroll.

Thank you for sharing this unique and wonderful big fish! :)

Greetings,

Mary Alice

Wow! Amazing piece of art. Well captured with fantastic detail and rich colour. What is the significance of the images and text in the tiles? You've a story to tell Séan. :)

Best regards, Tom

Mary Alice, Hamzar and Tom, thank you for the visits and kind comments.

This sculpture (an atlantic salmon) was commissioned to celebrate the regeneration of the River Lagan which flows through Belfast. The city has a long industrial history and the river suffered pollution of every type. In the late nineties the river was brought back to life and there are fish and salmon back in its waters.

The 'scales' Tom are covered in reproductions of pages from local newspapers covering notable events throughout the last century (eg Titanic setting sail from the harbour) and drawings and stories from Belfast schoolkids. There is also a time capsule within the 'fish'.

Very best regards guys,

Séan.

Hello Ancsa, I see you have found 'the salmon', if you look closely, you will see lots of historical pieces on it's scales. When you get back to Ireland you must get up to Belfast, you will love it :>)

Warm Regards,

Séan.
