Thanks BB. It's well worth the effort as much of the route is elevated and you get terrific views of the surrounding countryside. Although, as you've already illustrated the stretch from the Miner is less attractive, with the first 100m a stinking quagmire which is best avoided.
Whilst it's sad that this line is no longer used to serve trains, it's also shame that we've lost this a route of any sort; it would make a fantastic cycleway or footpath, linking Lichfield, Hammerwich, Brownhills and Walsall.
