Beautiful shot, Helen, and you're right, it's extremely similar to our Black Crowned Night Heron. Beth

Sorry I am so late. Thank you for your comment. This was my first bird photo and it was a quite rare sighting really in the day time in a very busy place (and I had never seen one of these before, or since. I always thought he was a bit lost. I can't find much else to photograph but birds and beasts!!! Thanks Manfred and hello from Melbourne

damn I lost my previous message

ha ha Berend, if you knew what I don't know about photography well...he just stood there, a few metres from me and posed!!! Aperture, priority, white balance, noise, rule of thirds, bracketing, dynamic range optimiser, this is English, but I certainly can understand Dutch and German Pano messages better.

Hello whoelius I just loved this bird and I look for him every time I go to the library. Greetings from Melbourne

Well Helen I'm just trying to learn it and if I'm not sure what to do I just take pictures in "Automatic" mode. I forgot in an other message that you can not see my labels/tags. Here is the link Birds Aussie Greetings Berend

Hi Berend..just 4 years later....and the technical details still elude me!!! This lovely bird created quite an interest for me in bird pics, but I never saw him again. And fond memories of the little Olympus 770UZ. Thanks I.Bachmann
