North of Wells Creek looking toward Scott Lake and Gannett Peak [Aug 1980]
Gorgeous view! The North Shoulder West Face of Gannett is striking! Did you come up Well Ck gorge or over from the Tourist Ck valley? Aug 1980, I was in Titcomb Basin...
It was a long time ago but I remember scrambling over endless boulder fields as we climbed the Tourist Creek valley from the Green River. We returned the same way. Close to the shore of Scott Lake, the night this picture was taken, it snowed about 6 inches. For the five days Dan Hirschstein and I were in this area we didn't see a single person and there wasn't much evidence of others being here. I remember huge boulders resting precariously on a ridge where all it took was a simple push to get them rolling. You don't see that very often where there are people.
