In Lanzarote the rains are scarce, heatstroke is high and temperatures warm. It is a climate Subdesert, sometimes the warm winds of the Sahara are reaching the island. The soil of the island is volcanic. Part is barren black lava solidified, but on the edges of the area of land with lava are volcanic, which has the quality to retain moisture in the atmosphere during the night, and passed to the ground; equally Prevents evaporation. The vines are planted in an original way. Here the people dig large holes in the form of a funnel, in which the vines are planted fund to gain access to land. The plant, and sometimes the hole, surrounded with a tabletop of volcanic rock from just over half a meter, drawing a half circle, in a way that protects the plant from the wind.
