I never fail to be surprised at the interest shown in such a simple photo.

The little wooden boat was almost hidden by the sea-weed clad timbers of the old Jetty.

I was cruising slowly, up-river, when I saw this bright blue flash of colour. It took only a few moments to realise it had potential.

Beautiful capture, Jim. I like the contrast between the well kept boats and the old pier. (or what it is).

Best wishes, shieldc

Greetings T.S.Jeung. Your appraisal is most welcome. As you well know, The old traditional craft often make good subjects.

Thanks for stopping by.

Hello shieldc, I was drawn to this little boat by the reflections glinting in the sun.

You are correct about the good condition of the boat. It is at least 40 years old.

The wooden piles and heavy crossbracing forms part of a jetty which can be seen in some of my other harbour shots. There is a Pub called the Golden Fleece nearby.

As always shieldc, your visit is a nice surprise.Thankyou.

AXOTA, on August 16, said:

Nawitka, I remember your love for messing about in boats. Harbours are a good place for opportunities like this.

Dear Marita, the conditions were just right. I had a good subject, good light and low water revealed all this lovely seaweed.

I am grateful for your visit, both of you-Thanks.

That boat has been lovingly painted in the best possible colour - it's positively irridescent! I wonder who Diane is? Anyway, she is being celebrated in style, that's for sure.....

Lovely shot, Jim, especially with the boat in contrast to the old timbers. You must have the time of your life cruising up and down the waters looking for the next shot!

Hope you are doing just that today, Jim, Kind regards, Sue

AXOTA, 8 days ago, said:

Hello Sue, I havent been checking my mail recently and for some reason panoramio E-mails have stopped coming through. It is so easy to miss posts.

I knew the moment I saw Diane that I wanted to capture her. I liked the shape of boat, the colour and reflection and the seaweed clad timbers. It was the idea of a fleeting glimpse of her that appealed to me.

Who Diane is, I have no idea but no doubt that she is or was a real live person and a close relative to the owner.

You are quite right Sue, I have a love for the sea. It is a wild, open and unpredictable place, free from the constraints, regulation and restriction that is the norm of everyday life for most folks.

There are no rules as such, once the open sea is reached, I can go where and when I want, at any speed. Only mother nature dictates what ever actions I take, she can be a cruel, unforgiving mistress to be respected at all times.

As I walk down the gangway towards my boat, I get this feeling of enlightenment, content in the knowledge that, until my return, I am now master of my own destiny, in every sense.

I hope this finds you recovered from your virus and enjoying the prospect of warmer spring weather. Take care Sue.

Best wishes.----_JimJams

Jim, have you ever thought of writing a book?! I love it when you 'wax all lyrical'. You have such a gift for descriptive writing! I shall imagine sailing away on a boat now, instead of picking up toys - how delightful..........! (Only joking, I wouldn't change a thing here, but it would be so nice and peaceful for a change.)

I am nearly over my cold now, thank you for asking, and yesterday was quite hot. I have shorts on today, which officially heralds spring!

Lovely to hear from you, Kind regards, Sue
