As usual brilliant and colourful photography! I have to say, living in Whitby you have an advantage over the rest of us! Might I mention it actually seems sunny?

Very good and colourful! Nice image. p.s. You'll have to stop using words, that I have to find in the dictionary. ;-)

Cheers shieldc

There are a great number of these harbourside houses and very many vantage points. I probably post too many, but sometimes I find them irresistable. I think that I should leave town now and then, dont you? :)

Greetings Eva, I shall be looking at the flotsam and jetsom on my seashore with a very different attitude after the next big storm (^j-)

There have been few sunny days here Paula, but your visit lights up my day.

Greetings shieldc. You truly are a star for being so tollerant of my overburdening use of the English language. Why use two words when several realy big ones will do !!! (you've got to smile)

You know that I really appreciate your visit folks.

Thankyou.

Your remark reminds me of 'Yes Minister'. I've always had a lot of fun watching that. Sir Humphry Appleby would agree with you! ;-)

AXOTA, on July 17, said:

Well shieldc, there is a ring of truth in your comment. For my sins, I worked for the British government for almost 20 years. Perhaps they can be blamed for my bloated English. (¬j¬)

Ps. bloated = grossly inflated

Grossly = bigger than normal

inflated = as a balloon

Now you can smile.

I think you are a rogue, Jim! ;-) I just found that in the dictionary. 2x ;-)

I am indeed a rogue shieldc, in as much that I enjoy pulling your leg. Now find that in the dictionary (-j^)

Best wishes my friend.

shieldc, on July 17, said:

Don't have to. I know what it means. Pulling each others legs is what makes life less dull. (amongst other things). :-)

All my best wishes, shieldc

you live in a very beautiful place Jim!! I think we need to go fishing times together in Whitby. you have 2 worms? I plan to travel .... sunny greetings. urbi

AXOTA, on July 27, said:

Eventually Pali, I will post a photo of every corner in this old town. I have some way to go and nothing stays the same.

Greetings and welcome Zabb Csaba, welcome to my little corner of England. It is good to meet you here.

It is the same all around town Sean. The harbour is formed in an esturine basin, flanked by steeply sloping cliffs. Hence the overcrowded appearance.

Well Urbi, that makes two of us, one extreme to another. You, up there with your head high in the Swiss Alps, and me down here fighting the effects of global warming and rising sea-levels. Ok Urbi, I have a big bag full of worms for bigger fish.

As always my friends, thanks for your visit and nice comments.

Regards.

Delightful waterside image Jim...and you caught is at the right time of day! Bruce

AXOTA, on July 29, said:

Aye Bruce, I am fortunate, living as I do in Whitby.

A guy called Sutcliffe was my inspiration. I regard his photographic genious with great admiration and respect.

I am now thinking (Usually a cause for embarrassment) that Bruce McIver and Yank in Dixie are one and the same. Forgive my presumption.

I enjoyed your visit and appreciate your kind appraisal.

Regards.

Just to clear things up...Bruce MacIver and I are not one and the same, although I would love to be at some of the places he has been!;-))). Bruce

AXOTA, on July 30, said:

Thanks for that Bruce

I share your wishes regarding his venues.

Lovely picture of this beautiful harbour town, Jim! It reminds me a little bit of Scarborough, a place I visited as a student. It must be great to live close to the sea! Best wishes, Anne

Pom', 10 days ago, said:

nice typical english view, Jim, I like it. many greetings, Pom'

AXOTA, yesterday, said:

Greetings Anne and Pom. Havent been in here for a few days, sorry I missed you both.

This harbour was the scene of much activity not so many years ago. Many fishing boats plied to and fro, landing large quantities of prime fish on a market eager for their catch. Today, there are few working boats and fewer people engaged in the industry, the harbour now providing berths and shelter for the ever growing demands from the boating world.

Your comments and visit is much appreciated.--Jim
