This unusual view was taken from my boat. I have cropped the image to give a panoramic effect.

I like the cropping effect. Gives it more dynamism. I also like the angle of the harbour wall/protective damm through the composition. Wouldn't I like to be on that beach now! Kasia

This beach known as Collier Hope was exposed to the North sea before the old stone piers were extended many years ago.
During stormy weather, the Captains of 'Colliers' (Coal carrying square rigged sailing ships)would deliberately make a run for this beach, where the Colliers could be safely grounded. Having flat bottomed hulls, they were designed for this eventuality. The boats could be safely re-floated on the next high tide. Capstan winches were used to drag the vessel into the river

Hello and welcome Fai. The sandy beach in the foreground is a friendly place on which to spend a few hours. There is always a great family atmosphere here.
Greetings Anna. The photo was taken from my boat. The sandy beach and old pier can easily be seen on the map.
Your visit and feedback is much appreciated. Thanks.

Lovely panoramic shot Jim. It's great reading the history of the area so cheers for that too. :)

It was a shot to nothing realy Billy, cropping it seemed to do the trick. I am learning(albeit at a snails pace)to give my shots some balance in form, perspective and colour. One reason why I enjoy doing this.
I am glad you appreciate the info. Like yourself, writing something of interest gives the photo that personal interest touch. It is so much easier to make comment on photos that have related text. I'm not good at idle chatter or small talk and sometimes I find difficulty in choosing something sensible/meaningful to say. Am I alone in this ??
Cheers Billy...Jim
