jeremiah, when was that? My family homesteaded in Willow in 1960. Do you know old man luster? How bout Tim Harris?
Hi..wondering if you have any photos of the old railbed from when there was a railroad going to the coalfield in Chickaloon.
Sorry Jim, I only have a handful of pics from Chickaloon, none of the railroad.
@Shineycherri - I only lived in Chickaloon for about 6 months, I don't know about Tim Harris or old man luster.. You have my curiosity now though!
My family and I homesteaded at 80 mile on the Old Glenn Highway in 1959. We lived up at the top of up past Herm Cotters place. I was only 6 years old, but we went to the one room school house in Chilkaloon and the schoolmaster was Mr. Pinkum. I went to school with all the Luster kids, Lucy, John, and Letha are the only names I remember. We visited some at their homestead. Those were great times, but hard times. We had no running water or electricity at our homestead. We about starved to death too. But I am still here thanks to the grace of God and some generous neighbors in the area. I have couple of pictures of us on our homestead, but not many, they don't show much, just forest mostly. Nice talking to you. Kathy Correll Clark, my step-dad at the time was John Glenn, my mother was Thelma Louise Glenn
@KathyCorrellClark Very interesting, I love history. I wish I could help out with some great old stories, but I only lived there for 6 TOUGH months..
