The brown cabin was split up into three living quarters, these were high-status, preferred accomodations for the the most valued workers at the Fort. These workers were permanent, not migrant. Each "motel unit", about 20x20, would house an entire family. When we visited, one unit was set up as the home of a boatbuilder, and he did his drafting on a table by the single window. Bed in opposite corner, children's bed (2 or 3 in one bed), cradle for the baby, stove -- not room for much more! Most work, even housework, was done outdoors.
