I went from Mestia to Lentekhi, as You see road is blocked till middle of June, unaccessible for cars. But easily You may try walk or go on bike(if Your not afraid of bears).

where to hike in svaneti region?what r highlights?

longdistancer on July 6, 2009

Not so many hiking trails in that area, but You can ask locals as I did. I know about one trail along the river up from Mestia, it leads to the glacier. Anywhere You go in that area it is beautiful, quite easy to climb at 3500m even around 4000m. Snow is gone in that altitude at beginning of july. Good luck!

The alpine camp at Zeskho has been abandoned for a long time now lol :) I shot a Georgian soldiers' AK 47 at the buildings in June 2009 and we started a fire with the wood from the buildings.
