Thanks, Bruce. I was not on a trail when I took this, since I was at work and had to hike to get to this spot. There are plenty of old jeep trails, but not a single developed hiking trail in this entire range. That is pretty typical of many of the remote ranges in this region. Hiking here takes good navigation skills and detailed maps are a must, since you either hike cross-country or use cattle or game trails. This isn't as risky as it sounds. The animals usually know the easiest route:).

Damage from off-trail hikers in any of these remote ranges isn't an issue, as they get virtually no visitation from hikers. Damage to this arid alpine habitat is from off-road vehicle use and also overgrazing by livestock. The only people who you'll run into up here are cowhands and hunters. Thanks for your comments. Eve
