Sorry I didn't see your question, Bruce. I don't know why there are many of these large poles placed in rockoutcrop in this area. I have wondered if they were put there to try to draw lightening away from a sheep camp, when sheep grazing was more common up here. This alpine habitat would have been some excellent grazing, but it totally exposed in the event of lightening. I have taken good care to not let myself be caught by storms up here. It is a long way out with absolutely no protection.
