Well I'll be! There _is_ a light at the end of the tunnel.
I see you managed to track down a pretty nice one - a rare species even! Really gorgeous creative take on this! and comparing to the flash-lit one next to this, looks like you had some special influence with the clouds, too!
Thanks Dianne and Kamaly. And although there were no fire ants biting me Kamaly, it was a very difficult, uncomfortable shot to get. Almost 600 tries over a few weeks. Guy.
LOL, Guy. I think crawling on your belly in a cave as the tide is coming in for a shot, and not just once but for as many times as it takes to get The Shot earns far far far more points than stupidly standing on a fire ant nest wondering why the mosquitos are biting so fiercely and only at one's feet! You get the Badge of Honor for this one! (and there's a yellow star on the badge, of course!)
Lol, my goodness! Purple Heart with it, too, then! Of course you lost a few points when you showed us its not really a cave, but I've never reached the point of being willing to get on my belly for any shot, especially in wet stony sand!
Guy, now I realise what you have to suffer to get "that" photo, if I got down, I wouldnt be able to get up. Are most of your photos taken close to your home??? Greetings, Dianne
Hi Dianne. Yes I am lucky, I would say 95 percent of my pictures are within 5 minutes of my place. Good observation so don't tell anybody. Some might think I go through hardship and range far and wide. Guy.
Yes Guy you certainly are lucky to be able to take such a diverse range of photos so close to home, all I would get would be houses, streets and shops, seems you are out in the middle of nowhere, I had a look on one of the maps where a photo had been taken, so I gather you have bush, and beach, what a combination for photos. Lucky you. Dianne
Yup, nothing but wilderness and beach here Dianne. But if you have houses, streets and shops then that's where your pictures lie. You have good pictures, so you just have to find interesting things in your area. Interesting to trade places for a week, at the end we'd both be saying "What a great shot, why didn't I think of that?" The answer is that what is mundane to me may not be to someone else. Let me loose in a big city and they'd wonder who the nutcase was that was taking pictures of pigeons. Guy.

And again, just love the way you make an "ordinary" shot into something extremely special. Dianne

Wow! Thanks Kamaly. And did I mention the grueling 4 minute drive through heavy traffic to get to this remote location?

I love this, love the title aswell,
Palmina
Thanks Palmina. Just now looking at it I thought of "Darkness closing in". Or should I keep the original title? Guy.

At last a new comp. A vote for an excellent shot and for the pain and suffering endured.
It definitely deserves my vote also. Dianne
Thanks Helen and Dianne. But do you really think whining should be rewarded? Guy.
The nature gives us really beautiful images, someguyinmasset . Well done. Greetings Doenjo
Thanks Doenjo. I go here quite often, more of this rock is in the tag "Fraggle Rock". Guy.
Just found this one again in comp. was going to vote as it is a brilliant photo, but I have already voted. Good luck. Dianne
Great photo Guy.
Greetings from Poland, Szymon.
Thanks from a couple months ago Dianne.
Thanks Szymon, also for finding some old comments I'd missed. Guy.
