Thanks Eva for your kind words. You have some really stunning shots in your collection, as well. Are you from New Zealand? It is definitely on my list of "Places I Want to Visit but Will Probably Never Get the Chance."

Kanawha United Presbyterian is the oldest serving church in Charleston, WV. It has been in service since 1816.

You can read an extensive history of the church here:

Hope you enjoy.

This is a very beautiful shot. What an exquisite church with so much delicate detail. I love the stained glass (or marbled glass) windows with the pretty circular design and the three long ones in front. I'm sure the circular pattern has meaning, but I'm not certain of what it is. Do you know? I love the color of the bricks too. It has a wonderfully rich appeal to it as only the older churches do.

You are from West Virginia? I work for a doctor who went to school in West Virginia and lived there for many years. Our office is covered in West Virginia decorations, from banners to flags to football articles, players photos, etc. You would probably feel right at home if you dropped by! =) We even wear West Virginia scrubs on certain days! He is very fond of West Virginia and often says he can't figure out why he ever left the area to come to Georgia. He would probably really enjoy looking through your photographs, as I see you have many from West Virginia.

Best regards to you this evening,

Mary Alice

Mary Alice,

I am a born and raised West "By God" Virginian. Our state gets a lot of ridicule as being boring, but if you were born here it's really tough to leave and many regret it when they do. You should pay our state a visit some time. I try my best to take photos of places most people don't know about or notice on a normal basis. I've passed this church many times, but until I stopped to take a picture, I really didn't think about how beautiful it was.

Thanks again for your kind words.
