The larger sunburst above our bedroom windows is now framed by mature spruce trees planted long ago by my parents.

A beautiful way to finish the triangle between the window and the roof top.
I "sort of" explodes the view to the spectator.
Greetings, Mogens.

Hallo Marilyn! I agree with mogens, the triangle below the roof top is very beautiful and the large spruce trees sure help a lot to keep your bedroom cooler in the heat of summer! It's a lovely photo, Marilyn! Greetings, Anne

When it gets windy, do the branches hit the front of the house?
Marilyn Whiteley, on July 26, 2008, said:
Thank you, blai, Mogens, Anne, and Tony.
These branches are not as close to the house as they look but they and the other trees that nearly surround the house do provide much appreciated shade.
My mother read or was told that sunbursts were a feature often seen on houses built by carpenters of Norwegian background, but I haven't been able to confirm that. This section of the house is of frame construction, but it was added onto an even older log section! None of the logs show, and my father didn't know that it was log until he tried to improve the electrical wiring. Then he found out!!

I really like the play of shadows on the house, Marilyn. They literally draw you in towards the window.

Thank you, Hank. This is one of the times I had to adjust my thinking. At first I was sorry there were all these shadows, and then I realized "No, they're an important part of the picture." Marilyn
