This is the Russian War memorial, as they were present as well. Many nations fought on this island as you will discover later on.
It is situated in Romaeikos Beach, near Archaeological museum and Memorial of 'Unknown Soldier'. In this big street, you notice a total of 4 memorials.
Find the Only small bridge (GEFYRA in greek) in Romaeikos area.
It is next to it !.
Every year there is a ceremony made to the war casualties, under the presence of Russian Ambassador (embassy in Athens- Greece) and a couple of priests, citizens and traditional uniform dancers, who usually perform Russian traditional folk dances or singing, either on same date (afternoon) or next day (afternoon).
For the festival location just e-mail me if you are around !.
Usually it occurs in October (RED october...).

Nice photo, but I do not really like it. I shot it as I wanted to use monochromatic feel and some colour touches (flags)
just shot it to keep my hands warm....
