What a magnificent structure,Ian you have opened my eyes to the beauty of Tonga and its people,Cheers Craig
Thanks Craig. The building is classical Tongan, almost.
The traditional fale or house was built with rounded ends and coconut thatched roof and this survived storms or cyclones. This building has been shaped with this in mind. The other significant element is the size of the building, for Tongan society is a communal society so a large gathering place or hall is always essential. In schools, the hall comes before the library or the computer laboratory.
This image was taken using the morning lighting such that I was able to highlight the end shape.
