This is the 13th century stronghold of the bishops of Orléans. This castle's dungeons hosted the poet François Villon, who was saved from starvation by king Louis the 11th, which tomb lies on the opposite bank of the Loire river, in the Basilique of Cléry-Saint-André. The castle was transformed in the 18th century in a more pleasant residence by the bishops. You can have another look on the other side of this castle over the Loire river by clicking here.
