Hi FRIM - well, the good news is that your photo here happens to be one of the few that Garmin has selected to be download-able in their new GPS maps. But the bad news is that the version that shows is pinned at a totally the wrong location. Since its something a lot of people try to see when they're in town from all over the world, they could get frustrated trying to find this in the area it shows as pinned.

But of course what's weirder: This shows in the world view here on Panoramio as though there are 2 photos. One with the right location, and one with the wrong one. Have you ever followed up with the admin team to find out why?

Paul Ginsburg on August 7, 2008

I cannot find a 2nd image in my images, it is possible I do not have it mark MA and that is why I cannot find it. I will try to click down from the world view. No sense in deleting it and uploading the wrong one.

Hi FRim - its really bizarre, because you don't have two images on your page! It seems that you corrected the location at some point, and a ghost of the original location remains in the system.

Just by doing a Search Place on the world map for Boston MA, 'both' photos are usually on the first page of 'popular' tab. But running the mouse over them, the number in the bottom browser bar is the same for each! (I post way too many photos in this general area, so I see them a lot, and have always wondered why you have it in there twice.) But if each is clicked on, they're mapped in different spots, but they are the same photo number and same number of views!Well, the second one will have one more than the first seemed to, since you'd just clicked it.

If you follow the link below to the Garmin GPS site that discusses the new connection to Panoramio photos, and plug in Boston, MA in the 'Find Photos:' search box, the version of this photo shows up on State Street, near the old State House/site of the Boston Massacre. It doesn't show up at the corrected Paul Revere House location

(its described in the forum thread

I'll do a screen shot and post it on my page here shortly. it's very very weird!

Hi FRIM - much longer comment above, and here's a screen shot showing the twin images, and the thumbnail in the wrong location. ( seems there's another photo in the area that also shows twice, though the locations seem to be the same. maybe its some kind of Boston Bermuda Triangle!)

Looks like this was quite a mystery. But the discussion dropped suddenly on August 7. Was it ever resolved? I only see this picture on place, and it is still the wrong location!

Paul Ginsburg on October 28, 2008

Strange, I fixed the position a long time ago and expected it to be fixed on the next upload.

Joe Gattuso on October 29, 2008

That is strange. Usually fixing it shows up right away on Panoramio. It's Google earth that's iffy and won't happen until an upload.

BTW, here's why I noticed your photo -- I posted my own photo of Paul Revere's house. It's an older photo and when I took it the house still looked like some of the old post cards. They must have wanted to make it more authentic. (I actually posted it about a year ago but it wasn't accepted for GE until recently.)
