Is your name also written in that wall...

Greetings, Jacques

Jacques, you won't find my name there! It's a tradition for people who dock there to add their names and the date. When I was a girl, my grandfather kept two rowboats on the pebble beach there, and we sometimes went out in one of them (usually using an outboard motor, though I've done my share of rowing). But they were very different from the elegant sailboats and yachts that used to and still do tie up at the dock! There are definitely no rowboats there now!!

Greetings, Marilyn

Too bad about the rowboats ... one of life's great pleasures, if only people knew! Great exercise too. But this is a very delightful scene, Marilyn. Congrats!

Thanks, Nawitka. I agree about rowboats.

When I was a girl, there was a small campground on the shore across the bay, maybe within the area in view in this shot. My parents and I camped there once (though my grandparents didn't see why we wanted to camp when we could stay with them), and we had my grandfather's boat and motor. My dad and I started to the village to pick up groceries or something, but he couldn't get the motor started. I rowed--and he got it going just before we reached the dock! I don't know how old I was, but I felt quite proud of myself.
