There's a comment to be made about this ... On the left side, the view is straight into the remains of a very tall tower, probably part of a church building. On the right side, people pass by underneath, or only attend shops.

This cynical interpretation is borne out by the fact that immediately on the left of this shot, an old church has been converted into "The Triple Kirks" - a semi-outdoor cafe / coffee house while some of its windows remain bricked-up.
