I've been working on a project to scan and re-touch my grandfather's slides from 50 years ago. If anyone is interested, I've uploaded some of them in a separate account: Edwin G.

Great idea Jessica

Hi Jessica, I have uploaded some color slides taken by my dad in 1944. The quality is quite impressive. I think there is some unraised potential in your grandfather's slides.

Greetings, Lutz

Those are very impressive, LutzP! When I was working on my grandfather's slides, I was very frustrated by the problems with colour. They all had a very strong reddish cast. Even in Photoshop, I couldn't correct them completely to realistic colour. Did you have that problem in scanning your father's slides? If so, what did you do about it?

I think it depends strongly on the material used. Kodak tends to develop a reddish cast whereas Agfa seems to be more stable and only a little blueish. My own Agfa slides from the sixties are generally in better shape than the Kodak ones from the eighties. The only way I know is tweaking color and white balance, however my result with this photo is also rather meager :-/
