I bet it was no picnic being locked up here David! We haven't managed to visit Scotland this year but I hope we can next Spring, I'll make sure we take time out to visit the castles in this area. I love your photos of them :) Regards, Anita

Anita thank you, i do hope you manage a visit soon, you used to be able to go in to the dungeons at one time but now they have put up gates to keep people out but it just encourages them to climb up through the windows. Regards David. ;0

Hi David, I'm not sure you would get me through the window, well not without a shove and kick. I'm not too keen on dark places, especially with a history like the dungeons have;) Best wishes, Anita

Hi Anita when we were kids we used to play a lot on the small beach away to the left of this photograph and often played in the dungeons and caves below the castle , the dungeon has a peculiar purple clay on the floor in places. Time team visited the dungeons a few years back , it was on BBC2 and it was a very interesting program for me ... Regards David :)

Time Team is one of my favourite programmes David. I must have missed that episode, maybe they will repeat it some day soon. Purple Clay! That sounds interesting, did they explain anything about it? I bet Phil from time team enjoyed there:) Regards, Anita

Hi Anita when they went down to the dungeons they ab-sailed down for show, but they didn't have to as there is a perfectly good path down. They did dig up human remains and had to call in the local bobby's in case they were quite recent but they weren't they were ancient bones, David :)
