Thanks for the comments on this image. It was taken at about 5am, a time I am rarely up and about. There has been no manipulation of the colour Peter. My only regret is the slightly messy foreground but it was one of those locations where its inclusion was unavoidable. regards Geoff.

I used to have just this view from my bedroom window when we lived in Grange. It reminds me of lying in bed in labour, looking at the view as the sun rose, and at sunset holding my baby watching the sun go down. This is a fantastic photo which really captures the bay in all its glory. Its so difficult so photograph- i've tried and it looked nothing like this!

Stunning photo, shows brilliant research effort to capture the decisive moment. Would be doubly valued if you gave the Date Time Group (DTG)in the caption and in all your fabulous shots.

E.g. 'Dawn over Morecombe Bay from Grange-over-Sands, 20080502.05:30' for example.

Kind regards from Hemel Hempstead

Thanks for your comments prevell and alpacaandrea. I am sorry prevell but no such precision is available. The shot is scanned from a transparency taken many years ago, if fact I would struggle to pin it down to a year! It didn’t involve any planning either, I was camping in the field it was taken from and had to answer the call of nature. This fantastic vista greeted me on emerging from my tent. Kind regards Geoff

Hello Geoff,

Can you lug your gear over to College Lake Wildlife Centre, Bulbourne Road, Tring, Herts and do a photo essay of a 200 acre chalk pit which is now a jewel in the crown of the Berks, Bucks and Oxon Wildlife Trust (BBOWT). Only one photo is on Panoramio!

I have the Nikon gear but am 75 years old and partially disabled so don't have the zest to do the subject justice. The 30 acre lake and scrape with breeding Redshank, Little Ringed Plover, Lapwing,Tufted Duck,Sand Martin, Swallow and all the common Ducks plus visiting Merlin,Osprey,Red Kite and Buzzard plus all the once common farmland birds and orchids should keep you busy for a few years.

Kind regards,

prevell,

Thanks for your message Peter. I do have some other images of College Lake taken on a couple of visits. I will gather them together on a disc and send them to you. Regards Geoff.
