Lovely shot Paula. A little like one of Tony Reid's entries, but an upward sloping version =) Really nice, I like the light at the end of the tunnel. Best wishes, Fai

Thanks Fai, it's really eerie walking here in late evening with the woods next to you! Some strange noises are heard! All the little nocturnal animals waking up!

I can imagine, judging by the map, it looks quite dense. Once I walked through some woods at night in pitch darkness (there was no lighting as the nearest city; where I was walking to, was about a mile away), I just used my mobile's screen to illuminate the path. All beacause I wanted to take a shortcut! Looking back, I feel so silly now. Fai =)
Paula K, on August 6, 2008, said:
I wouldn't say it was silly! I have heard gunshot several times in this wood, bumping into some unsavoury character would be terrifying! Lol!

Hiya Paula. A fine country lane, its origins probably go far back in time. The road surface is breaking up through lack of maintenance. Perhaps it is part of an old Bridle way?
This will be a fine place to visit in the autumn and winter. I can imagine a very seasonal looking photo appearing here in the not too distant future. I like this very much Paula.---Jim

Hi Jim, It used to be an old farm track. There are two cottages right at the top, and the farm is no more! So traffic is very limited. My granddad used to take me up here as a child and it always scared me, I used to think there were monsters or something as my granddad told me not to go down alone! Hope Whitby has sorted its plumbing problems out! :)

The stench was disgusting and raw sewage was polluting the river. Yorkshire Water and Scarborough Council have a lot to answer for because this was a completely avoidable problem. The beaches were closed, the health risk was so high. I dont think the problem has been successfully resolved. We shall see.--Jim
Paula K, on August 7, 2008, said:
It said on the news tonight that the problem was sorted, maybe they don't want to scare the tourists! Won't keep me away though!
Cheers bud!

You are so right Paula, there is lots of cover-up politics going on here. Its a bit like the denial in the JAWS movie. Jim
Paula K, on August 7, 2008, said:
As this is the main tourist season the local council won't want tales of leaking sewers getting out, nor will the local traders, I should think. I hope it is sorted, for the sake of the people who live there.

The stink in the bridge area last night was vomit inducing. I was a river level in my boat which only made it worse. They have closed the harbour beach(Tate Hill Sands)because of the health risks.
Paula K, on August 7, 2008, said:
Hmm. Not good for the people or the wildlife. I hope it's sorted soon kid. Tht is my favourite bit of beach too! :(

I love this Paula, When I'm out in the car and are travelling through these old tree covered lanes I get the feeling of being transported through time, some folk might think that I'm puddled (they might be right) ;) Anita

Thank you Anita, I know what you mean, there is nothing to connect it to the modern world so it fires the imagination.!! ;)

AHHHH! found it at last!
Paula this photo is one of my faves, but i forgot where i'd put it!
How you getting on? It was good to hear you say that you had recovered, i surely hope 2009 will be a healthier year for both of us, you know i have a bit of bother too!
Any how, to the point-would you like to be in the wee BOOK(let) ? that's an official invite, not eveyone gets one!
Just to fill you in, I am producing a book of poetry, against others pics from Panoramio, (paying all costs outa my government grant of 4d a week, ) ALL profits to go to a charity, as yet undecided-but we, the contributors to the BOOK will get to decide ?by vote where any profit from sales is going.
It is a bigger thing to just give money, when one has it, but this way, I am hoping to bring awareness to the gen.public of Panoramio, and ALL the lovely people that have 'helped' me so much this last 6 months, while I bin rather poorly,PLUS you guys get free publicity!
All I need from you is your say so, wether I can use your picture or not , OK?
Now you think awhile before answering, and keep popping in, I miss yer comments!
@bye now
Mike the GEORDIELAAD! y'naa
