Selected for Google Maps and Google Earth

The central section of this building was designed by Thomas Jefferson and was the first public building in the "new world" constructed in the Monumental Classical Style. Jefferson based his design on the Roman era temple of Maison Carree, in Nimes Fr. This building also served as the Capitol building of the Confederacy during the Civil War.
