Between heavy showers a beautiful sunset exist. I'm naturally wary as I post this of my friend PeSchn's great photo click-here. It really is just a coincidence that this is here too. I personally think Peters picture is better! but I think you may agree, this isn't a bad attempt. Enjoy. Herb

Hello, Herb, we are looking forward ;-)) to some new probably heavy thunderstorms tomorrow... I´ll try my best again. Your picture is wonderful, the mood is completely different from my picture. This is beauty, the other is almost a threat. I took a picture much more similar to yours a few days ago, but it´s much worse than yours, so I didn´t post it...
Kind regards, Peter

Thanks for that Peter. I am as always, honoured by your visits and observations. I agree with you about the threatening look of your picture - it's the very thing that makes it look so good! I will look now for threatening photo's myself. That is the great thing about Panoramio, not only do you get observations and an outlet for your own photo's but also you pick up ideas and good tips from other photographers. Herb

I am thinking that your shots are enhanced by the frming you include in each shot. What do you use for the framing and signatures?

Hi Tony. My normal picture size is 2560*1920. I use ‘paint shop pro’ (currently v12 but you can use v5 upwards) to ‘add borders’. For this size photo, I use two types of border, big or small. The big: White 4pixels, black 20, white again 6, black again 100- this leaves a bigger black centre. Small-black 12, white8, black4. This leaves a bigger white centre. The text is then manually inserted using the ‘text tool, using ‘the Bickham Script Pro font @48 in white’ (I think that’s included with PSP). In fact I use this now so often that I have created an automatic script in PSP to make the border in one click but I still have to insert the name manually as yet. I then reduce the size of the picture for Panoramio. I reckon most photo editing progs should let you add borders I've tried PS CS3 and Elements but I find them awkward. Hope this helps. Herb

herb, I have given this shot a Yellow Star - it is deserving so.
Having it in my favourites also means I can refer to your detailed description. Thank you very much for that!
Cheers,

Thanks very much for the Yellow Star Tony. I'm glad that my detailed instructions might have been of some use to you. Which photo editing prog do you use? Herb

I use an old copy of Elements, and a bit of Picasa on my PC. On my Mac I use iPhoto - that is until I get some decent software!
