Nice shot! It's a neat colored one.

Question- is it's burrow 500 feet long?

Guy, thanks. And that is a good question. Anybody know? Jean

jean...I think you've fallen into a guy-trap! I'm surprised he didn't ask if it was 1,000 feet long!

The feet are side by side, so I figured 2ft x 500ft should accommodate the little darling.

Well, Guy was teasing, but seriously does anybody know how large is a burrow?

And Guy, this millipede has four legs per segment so maybe you need to recalculate?

And another thing, how do they stay so clean???

Thanks Guy, Kostas, & B-n-P.

OMG, glad it was you taking that one Jean, I dont think I would get close enough. I hate those crawly creatures. Dianne. But brilliant photo.

Diane, Thanks!

Of all the creepy bugs, this one doesn't bother me. They are pretty harmless and this one didn't even see me as he was already headed down the hole by the time I got to him. He was going into a hole on the vertical part of some steps in a picnic area. His head was already out of sight! As I said before, I am not brave.
