I think this is a wrong description, some of the authors were banned and burned by the nazis, some others (like goethe and schiller) maybe misused for nationalist propaganda. some were just born in the nazi era (grass) but i suggest that this "monument" was just part of a big advertising thing a time ago. the real monument for the the so called "bücherverbrennung" is located under the bebelplatz, an empty room with white empty book shelfs.
