I stayed at the Taft in 1979 when I was 19. Your pictures brought me back. I had forgotten what the lobby looked like. I thought I was so grown up staying there - I was there on New Year's Eve and had the most magical night. I drank White Russians at the bar. I loved the city; it was still gritty and the streets were wild but civilized (even though they didn't use those barricades they put up now). I'd never do that now...nor do I drink white Russians! Thanks for the memories...

MaraDH, that would mean you were born in 1960 the year the fabulous Roxy was demolished. The entrance to the theatre was where TGI Fridays now occupies,at the corner of the hotel. A sad reflection on the decline of the entertainment district of NYC. The Roxy and the nearby Capitol, also gone, were the two gretest theatres ever built - irreplacable.
