When I was a little'un my folks some weekly "Runabout" tickets so we could go on adventures on trains. Our first trip was to Carlisle and we departed from the platform just to the right of this. Ever since then I have loved train journeys. So, thanks for the memory.....

Great of you to drop by, Skida same for me, but the other way! I often travellrd from Carlisle to Silloth by steam train, lateon I used the train to get to and from Carlisle while I worked in Newcastle.

Travelling by train gives me a 'feel' for the place I am going to.

Thanks for the visit, glad you enjoyed it, mate.

Hope you are feeling better, Mike. I had a day off so we went the beach that Linda tells me is at Charlie's Garden. It was somewhere I had never been before, although I have passed close by so many times.

I did a search on Charlie's Garden and found a painting by a local artist. The scene looks much the same today. Painting be Reavely

I love that curve in the track and the way the line disappears out of sight,.......to who knows where......well, obviously, you know where, as you bought a ticket, but poetically speaking.......

You are doing some great shots, Mike!

I can only look at a couple more now as I have too many people wanting too many things at once! cheers, Sue

Yeah Sue I just love curves, they are so beatiful (like on a chicken in the woods) One cannot help but get shots like this in the right light in this place.

I was just an observer, didn't need a ticket!

You're a very good wordsmith, have you had training ? But nay! methinks you are a natural, to one with your command of words, they trip off byour tongue like Lorikeets flit through the tall trees.

This platform has history for me, it is where I first came into Newcastle by train, in the 70's when aa were just a lad, coming t'mek summat of his sen!

Tarra for now, lass, I must go to see if the sparras want feedin'

Yeah, I do gabble on a bit, don't I? So you have gone to feed the sparrows then. Leaving me to wash up the dirty frying pan.......fine....well, hurry back now.....

cheers, m'dear..... sigh. sue

The 70's seem like yesterday, don't they? Did you watch 'Life on Mars', based in the 70's? I really loved that series...very nostalgic. Made me want to go back to visit, not to be stuck there though!

Bye again, Sue
