On the wall is a GDR government mural depicting a prosperous and carefree life under socialist rule. On the ground is a photo of GDR citizens protesting against their living conditions on 17 June 1953. This photo is a monument to the 125 or more East Germans who were killed on that day by the GDR army as it violently supressed the demonstration.
