This bridge used to carry the railway to the Iron Ore mines in the hillside. The track was taken up in 1914 or there abouts and the bridge was converted to pedestrian use in recent years. Prior to this conversion you used to cross the river on the two parallel girders!!
thanks this was taken on memory lane trip last yr' after bypass surgery. I remember this bridge from childhood in the early sixties, walking holiday at Boot farmhouse and i have memories of people walking across the two girders!! In those days I remember all paths led to Burnmoor tarn !!
