The towers on Greenbury Point are now obsolete and have been turned over to Maryland. Older towers of the Naval Radio Transmitter Facility Annapolis, now demolished, dated to 1918 and later towers for station NSS were used for all communications with the Atlantic Fleet in WW II. Sixteen of the nineteen towers once here are gone.

To the left is an Annapolis tourist sailer and to the right is the William Preston Lane, Jr. Bay Bridge that carries US 50/301 across Chesapeake Bay. The bridge is usually known simply as the Bay Bridge, site of long traffic back ups on summer week-ends. It also strikes considerable fear into some with eastbound lanes 186 feet (57 m) and westbound lanes 200 feet (61 m) above the water. It has been the site of a few spectacular accidents.

For a view of these towers from Whitehall Bay on the other side of Greenbury Point see Greenbury Point Towers Backing Crabboat. Since the towers are so visible and each pair can form a range for a line of position they are valuable visual navigation marks.
