Exerpt from the Buffalo News: The smoke had hardly cleared Wednesday morning before Springville determined that the grand old Leland House on East Main Street had to be torn down.
Ravaged by an early morning fire, part of its roof had collapsed near the cupola, and the village engineer could not certify that the building was safe.
"It's a sad day in the Village of Springville," Village Administrator Timothy L. Horner said. "It was a grand old lady."
