These sites are not very safe due to locations on high bluffs and deteriorating states. Not to mention they are now private property.

These are actually the location/are range finders for two coastal defense 16" cannons that were placed at Fort funston in Dailey City, approximately 15 miles to the north. The cannons were pulled, I believe towards the end of WWII, around 1944. The domes to the south worken in concert with these two domes. To the east in the draw (Easr of Hwy 1) are two bunkers on the hillside, one supplied power, the othe was a plot room.

There were never any cannons mounted at these locations. Observation sites only. These are the facts posted at my other photo of Lookout #1.
Prior to 1 July 1940, the War Department acquired 9.61 fee acres for a triangulation and observation site. The site was known as Devil's Slide and was a part of the Harbor Defense of San Francisco in San Mateo County, California. The site was also known as SCR-296, Set No. 10. The site was one in a series of observation posts during World War II. Improvements to the site began in 1943, and included three observation pill-boxes, one electric generator bunker, one communications and command bunker, and an observation tower. On 25 October 1959, 9.61 fee acres were transferred to the Department of the Navy. County Assessor records indicate that in 1983 a private individual purchased the property from the Department of the Navy. The sites are located on the Northern California coast, north of the town of Montara, approximately 3 miles south of Pacifica. http://www.panoramio.com/photo/1362307
