Quite obvious that this bronze piece has its eyes made of valuable precious stone. The culprit must be desperate and used a very blunt tool to gouge it out. The plunder either sold it as an ornament or for magical power. When men are hungry (or greedy for that matter), a sculpted deity meant nothing but a piece of material. Other than the eye, the other face features still look fine. Hoe Phra Keo in Vientiane, Laos.
