I had to use the zoom to get a picture of 'The Wooden Bridge' as the River Moyola had competely burst its banks on 16th August 2008 after torrential rain. At this time of the year the Moyola would normally be under ten inches deep at this ford crossing!!

Why is this called the wooden bridge when it's not made from wood?

Well spotted! This river crossing was originally served by a wooden constructed bridge. Due to weathering, wear and tear etc, this wooden bridge was replaced by a formed concrete span bridge. You will notice that I have enclosed the name in apostrophes therefore alluding to the fact that this bridge pictured is nostalgically known as 'The Wooden Bridge', but those who are not nostalgic or not aware of its history refer to it as 'The Concrete Bridge'
